Connective Tissues
The writer must be English as it is to be written in English, not American or Chinese English. Would rather that not so many American (uni/college) websites were referenced either, I hope you know what I mean by this.

REMEMBER use images properly harvard referenced, words put in text boxes under these images do not count towards word count. Please do this as much as possible to maximise marks as by the assessment criteria. Appropriate illustrations (i.e. pictures, diagrams etc.) used effectively to support the ideas discussed in your report.(15%)

In the assessment criteria 1. A report that clearly compares and contrasts the structure of cartilage and bone and critically evaluates the importance of their structural adaptations (45%) Remember to do write up cartilage and bone structures/evaluations together, and not separately as the criteria is asking for comparison and contrasts of the two.

Learning Outcomes: 1. Critically evaluate the relationship of cell structure to function, with particular reference to connective tissues.

Assignment Title: Connective Tissues – An Illustrated Report

Rationale: All the cells in the human body have differentiated from stem cells in the embryo. The process of differentiation produces cells adapted to perform particular functions as part of identifiable tissues and organs. An understanding of the structure and function of different cell types will help you understand the physiology of organs, systems and the whole body. You should be able to relate this topic to knowledge gained earlier in this module and elsewhere on the course, especially the Human Physiology module.

Brief: In this assignment you will compare and contrast the cellular and extra-cellular structure of cartilage and bone. You will evaluate the ways in which the structure of the cells and tissues is adapted to allow them to perform their required functions in the body. You will also discuss the process of bone re-modelling and analyse its importance to an organism.

Assessment Criteria:
1. A report that clearly compares and contrasts the structure of cartilage and bone and critically evaluates the importance of their structural adaptations (45%)
2. A clear discussion of the process of bone remodelling and an evaluation of its importance.(30%)
3. Appropriate illustrations (i.e. pictures, diagrams etc.) used effectively to support the ideas discussed in your report.(15%)
4. Identification of relevant texts and illustrations referred to in the report using the Harvard referencing system outlined in the assignment handbook. (10%)

Word count: 1500 words
Format: All text should be fully justified, size 12 Arial font, with 1.5 line spacing, and normal margins. The report should contain page numbers and a header indicating your name, the module code and the assignment title. You must include a completed assignment submission cover sheet. Reference relevant sources using the appropriate Harvard Referencing system.
