Criminology theory in songs lyrics

Overview: The goal of the assignment is to allow students to apply criminological theory and develop concise critical writing skills. You will select one of the following song lyrics: (1) Blurred Lines (Robin Thicke), (2) Voice of the Voiceless (Rage Against The Machine), (3) Trapped (Tupac Shakur), (4) All God’s Children Ain’t Free (Johnny Cash), and (5) Ten Crack Commandments (Notorious B.I.G.). In a brief written assignment, you will use any criminological theory to analyze the lyrical content of the song. For example, do the song lyrics illustrate the role of subcultural values in the development of criminal behaviour and, if so, how? Your application should clearly illustrate the relevance of the theory and its related concepts.

Technical Requirements: Your assignment should be approximately 700-800 words, double-spaced, non-inclusive of your title page and references. The overall format of the paper and the references should conform to the American Psychological Association (APA) referencing style. You should use a Times New Roman, font size 12, with 1-inch margins on all sides of the paper. Your reference page will only include two references (Course Textbook, Song Lyrics) but should still be included.
