Human Resources (HR)
Denhardt, Denhardt, and Aristigueta (2013, p. 19) write that “knowledge of ourselves not only is valuable from a personal standpoint but also is critical to success and satisfaction in our work lives.” Throughout this course, you will have an opportunity to learn about and develop your own personal leadership style. To help fulfill this goal, you will be posting Journal entries in Units 1, 3, and 5. These exercises will be helpful in preparing you to complete your PowerPoint® Assignment due in Unit 9. Post your Journal entry in the blue Journal tab found at the top of your course space (next to Dropbox).
For this week’s entry, go to http://www.authentichappiness.sas.upenn.edu/default.aspx and take the VIA Survey of Character Strengths. This assessment measures 24 character strengths. Completing this survey will help you learn more about your personality and leadership style. (Note: The assessment is free but you will need to register at the website.)

1. What was your reaction to the results? Did you learn anything new or surprising about yourself? Did the results confirm or strengthen any existing beliefs about your temperament?
2. As you reflect on the results of the VIA Survey of Character Strengths, consider its impact upon your leadership abilities. Based on the results of your assessment, identify and discuss two of your leadership strengths. Also, identify and discuss two possible challenges or weaknesses. Utilize the four components of emotional intelligence in your evaluation (pp. 24–25).
